October 11th – A shot across the bow of the Prado

Our weather person here predicted rain, think Denver weather people, and of course there were some clouds and it was cooler but no rain.   Anyway we decided to stay in town and go to the Prado, our strategy was to buy a yearly pass allowing us to go to several museums for one price.  Three or four visits and the passes are paid for so potentially a good deal.   Of course we didn’t factor in the Spanish approach so when we showed up they declared that we needed 2 passport photos each and a photocopy of our passports or other photo id.   Man they make it difficult to spend money here.  But we’re only deterred not defeated.  Viva Yo!

So after ushering ourselves out we walked over to a little plaza we saw two days ago to have lunch outside at one of the little restaurants there.   Great lunch out in the cool.   Next we walked down to the church with the large dome and went in to see it, pretty impressive.  On the way back to our bus homeward we chanced on a beautiful enclosed garden that had once belonged to one of the Spanish nobility but was now a public garden.   Very intimate and quite charming.   After we left there we got about 3 minutes of sprinkles and that represented the rain for the day.  Tomorrow is the Spanish National Holiday, Deb thinks it may be a four day weekend so things may be a bit jumbled up for us.  We don’t know yet what to expect.
