October 10th – A rest day

Today is a bit of a rest day; I got out a bit and bought a few items from the market while Deb rested in the apartment.  After lunch we decided to walk a bit in the neighborhood and become more familiar with it, since we only know the main drag Calle de Alcala.  We started out by following C/ Alcala in the opposite direction from what we usually take and walked out to the next major boulevard, probably half of a mile.  We discovered a mall which has the largest supermercado we have come across.  Also there are these stores called Imaginarium which are cute because they have a door for kiddies next to the main door. From there we went south on that street for a few blocks the cut back into the heart of the neighborhood and back to our favorite cerveceria, a Conchina, for a couple beers.  Our bar has been so friendly that we don’t seem to want to try many others.  We have tried some others but none have come close to the inexpensive prices and generous tapas portions that we get at a Conchina.  I’ll try to put together an entire entry for them.

  1. The local bar sounds really nice. It would be nice to share a beer there!
